The Challenge
Developing an effective and responsive application
The 3rd Edition of the Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) Levels Guide has been updated to include five different “Levels” of performance for HTM Departments throughout hospitals. Based upon a series of questions developed by the authors, AAMI wanted to provide a self-scoring tool for HTM Departments to rate themselves.
The purpose of the online scoring tool is to rate HTM Departments in a quantifiable manner by the utilization of an algorithm developed by the SMEs that evaluates how each respondent answered each of the multiple-choice survey questions.
AAMI needed their HTM Levels Guide to be redeveloped digitally to meet the requirements of the 3rd Edition. They reached out to Orases with the hopes of enhancing their guide to make it more interactive and user-friendly.
Solution
A modern, web-based and interactive assessment tool
Orases built a new web-based application scoring tool featuring a questionnaire divided into 11 categories. Each category contains three to five questions that contribute to the category’s overall score and an algorithm applicable to that category.
Upon completion of the assessment, there is a summary page with a score for each category with the lowest scored category highlighted. The overall score will be the lowest category score. The assessment is access-controlled to existing AAMI members and to non-members who opt to purchase the assessment.
The self-assessment also provides instructional content to help the users create a roadmap for future development and movement toward higher levels. Departments that score at Level 5 in all categories are programs that demonstrate best practices in HTM.
Results
A drastic increase in number of completed assessments
This was a brand new product for AAMI and its HTM users, who were able to take the assessment, rate their HTM Departments, recognize where there was room for improvement, then receive tools for ways to improve.
Each case now only takes AAMI about 15 minutes for them to process after they review the submitted assessment. This has dramatically improved their efficiency and ability to reach more potential users.
Decrease
In processing time for AAMI to review self-assessments
Overall Rise
In outreach and marketing efforts for the guide and brand
Continuous Improvements
To the self-assessment and its capabilities over time
